At the 2008 North Georgia
UIC Clinic at Emory
Universtiy, Georgia ASA UIC
Jimmy Derrick unveiled the
newly revamped Georgia ASA
Code of Ethics. The
coded was instituted to
address a number of issues
with professionalism that
arose in 2007, both on and
off the field. Click

GUA Elects first At Large
member of the Board.
-
On Monday, January 14, 2008,
the umpire body chose James
Edlen to represent them as
the At Large member of the
GUA Board. The
election took place at our
first meeting of the year,
which included only
returning umpires.
Also nominated for the
position were Bob Crowley,
Bob Cuneeen, Mike Mason, and
Mike Kline. Thank you
to those who submitted
nominations, and
Congratulations James!

Georgia Blue Forum Back
Up and Running after a brief
hiatus.

The Georgia Blue Forum, a
great place for umpires to
discuss everything softball,
is back in business after
being out of commission
since early this year.
The goal of GBF is to
promote the sport of
softball throughout Georgia,
and provide a link to
different associations
across the state.

Eighth Annual "A Wish for
Wendy" Tournament set at
Alpharetta's North Park
-
The "A Wish for Wendy"
charity softball tournament
is an annual event
benefiting the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation and the
fight against CF, a genetic
disease affecting 30,000
children and young adults in
the United States.
This year, it will be played
on Saturday, November 3.
It's a 16 team, double
elimination Coed tournament,
and GUA is proud to be
providing volunteer umpires
for the day. James
Edlen will be organizing the
umpires for the tournament.
